Several of my recent posts have been about my trip to visit my Aunt Kathie last week. I’ve talked a lot about what we did while we were there: making deviled Easter chicks with the kids, sewing projects, and taking llamas for a walk. I haven’t really said anything about Aunt Kathie herself and I doubt she would want me to talk too very much about her personally. We were there to celebrate a big birthday with her – and so I’ll just say this – Happy Birthday Aunt Kathie. Thank you for all you’ve done for all of us over all of the years and most especially during this last year when we needed you so much and didn’t even have to ask. Your generosity of spirit has meant the world to me and to my family.
Sniff. . .
Well, a beautiful person comes from a beautiful place and in Kathie’s case she creates a lot of the beauty herself. Have a look at the house she calls home.
A quick look around Kathie’s house makes me feel like I’ve stepped inside one of my favorite blogs. Really, it was quite inspirational. Everywhere I turned was another photo opportunity. One of the things I admire about Kathie is her ability to take in all of the craftiness around us – blogs, Pinterest, 30+ years of Country Living, etc. – and make so much of it come to life in her own way.
And if you go to visit her and you are just small enough – there might be a princess bed for you to sleep in. And if it is chilly you might wear the flannel night dress she made you for Christmas. And if you have forgotten your favorite stuffed animal that you must have in order to go to sleep – a live replacement may be provided.
And just a little more eye candy. I’m going to have to go back soon to get another fix myself. And I need more sewing lessons!
Do you have a favorite aunt? Or one that is very special? Drop me a line and tell me about her. For that matter, drop HER a line. . .
