Hello, everyone! Welcome back to those of you who’ve been along on this ride with me for a while and, in case you’re new here, so glad you’ve found me! I’ve teamed up with the best Junkers in blog-land (really, I’m not just saying that) so that we can bring you our combined efforts. What are we combining our efforts for? Well, together we have created several incredible Pin Boards. Seriously, you need look no further than our Fall Junkers Unite Pin Board for your Fall Inspiration… and yes, we are already hard at work on Christmas!
I have really enjoyed Fall this year…but, man! am I excited about Christmas! (ahem. sorry.)
HEY! Since you’re here…You can follow breida with a b. on Facebook just by clicking the button in the box below!
So! I’ll show you my project and then I’ll point you to everyone else’s project (you won’t want to miss them!) and then you can link up YOUR projects at the end of this post so that we can include YOUR amazingness in the Fall Junkers United Pin Board!
Here we go!
Creating a vignette like this one does not have to take a long time. And it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. I did spend a few dollars on real white pumpkins this year but if I had been in the mood for regular orange pumpkins (like a normal person) I could have used my extensive collection of faux-kins. I only have a few faux white pumpkins…can you tell which one of these is the faker?
So. There are a few junky pieces in this little Fall Porch Display. The galvanized watering can is from a yard sale (last year). It’s got a bent snout – which you can’t see from this angle. The “sticks” in the planter are actually spent tiger lilly stems (more on that in a minute). That piece of wood in the background? Hmmm…that looks like an old floor board. Not even sure where that one came from. And my newest junky acquisition is that rusty old hand truck. We had a fancy fold-away one that met it’s demise at the hands of my 11 year old a few weeks ago and my mom offered to let me have her “old junky one.” She bought a newer and more sturdy “junky” one at a flea market. Share the Junk, folks.
I’m pretty sure the hand truck has spent some time outside…
Make sure, if you’re trying to create something similar, that you are open to changing things as you go along. When I began, I wasn’t even planning to use the hand truck as a part of the display… I was actually using it to cart the many, many, pounds of pumpkin around to the front of the house. And then I realized that it looked perfect (to me!). Originally, the star of this little show was the tee pee of lilly stems in the planter.
I think you can tell from these pictures how I put it together. If you’d like to read a full tutorial – I made one in the exact same way (only bigger) for morning glories. You can see that here. I’ve used these spent tiger lilly stems for a few different projects now. You can see my vintage yardstick witches broom, over here. I also used them in my Fall Mantel this year. Just yard scraps – but I love ’em for some reason!
You just have to let it all come together – gather a bunch of objects that you love – try to vary the heights – and then arrange them so that they please the eye. This took me about a half hour.
Taking the pictures (and editing them) took me a little longer than that.
That’s it for me! Happy, Fall, everyone! What’s your favorite season? My favorite is all of them except winter…even though my favorite Holiday is Christmas…I know that doesn’t make sense. I don’t do any seasonal decorating for Spring or Summer but I go all out for Fall and Christmas! Thanks so much for stopping by – and NOW go on to check out the Fall projects from the rest of the Junkers United Pinning Team!
And Now It’s Your Turn!
