I’m Back{11}

Hello there.  So – you know that there might be concerns about announcing that you’re going to be away from your house for an extended period of time.  We have a house sitter while we are away but still…. But now that I’m back I can tell you that I was away on vacation for a couple of weeks.

There is also the concern that you might hate me for going somewhere warm while everyone else is freezing their patooties off and breaking their back shoveling 20 feet of snow….

Nevertheless – I was away – and now I’m back.  We were visiting my in-laws at their house in Puerto Rico and it was indeed warm…

We were gone for two whole weeks but because of the kids’ Feb. break and the extra snow days thrown in – they only missed 3 days of school.  We’ve been going to Puerto Rico pretty much every year since the in-laws built their house.  We’re so lucky to have the opportunity – this year we got our plane tickets with credit card miles and staying with family is both fun and cheap!  And, really?  You would be hard pressed to find a better view in a luxury resort…

We don’t do a lot on these trips.  I mean, we don’t really go anywhere… who would want to leave that view, right?  We generally go down to the beach and then come home for lunch and a nap… and that happens pretty much every day.

Of course, the beaches aren’t totally empty…

seeing iguanas in Rincon is about as common as seeing squirrels at home…

We did go on one little outing to a flea-market and there was one vendor there that caught my eye… made me think of all my junk-loving, recycling, repurposing friends… he had some pretty cool stuff but I didn’t really have any way to get the heavy stuff home.  Also, interestingly, these item were clearly for sale and meant to be put to use.  He wasn’t selling them as “cool vintage” items.

So – I’m back – and I’m itching to get involved in some projects here at the house.  Mr. Social Media and I are working on something that I’m excited to tell you about (working on it together!) but it’s got to get a bit more organized before I can talk about it.  I’m planning a big project/series of projects for my son’s room and there are a few more things in the works as well.

We had a great time in Puerto Rico – but I’m glad to be home because…

Yep.  I do love it here – even though we came back to this…

How high is the snow at YOUR house??
