It’s The Little Things. . . {Chalk Ink Markers}{13}
Yesterday was not a bad day. It was just a ridiculous day. I kept having to do things over (and I hate that) and it really seemed like the day was conspiring against me.
When I came down stairs in the morning I saw that I had left $12 worth of chicken out on the counter all night. And I had to drive to the store again and spend the $12 again.
One child forgot something important for the day camp he is attending – so after dropping him off there, I had to return to the house again and go back to the camp with the forgotten item. Again.
I overcooked 2 lbs. of potatoes that were meant for potato salad and I thought I would have to do them over again – but I was able to save them by rinsing them in ice cold water and then refusing to even look at them for 2 hours. I’m not sure how that part helped – but they firmed right up.
One. Thing. After. Another.
I know you have had this day.
The day got a little better toward the end. The potatoes were not a total failure (the potato salad was great!). Would you like the recipe? We had a nice dinner. I made another cup of the chamomile tea that I talked about yesterday. And that helped. I found something that has been missing for weeks. Also helpful. Just before dinner I saw that I had been featured on Home Stories A2Z for my nostalgic look at making homemade lemonade. And that helped a little more. But still – the day had taken the wind out of my sails. . . the problem with having to do things over is that it makes you feel really unproductive. On the whole? Nothing really got accomplished yesterday. And so it sort of gives the day a certain. . . flavor. Even though all my loved ones are safe and happy – I remained. . . flat.
Today was a totally different day.
While I was out in the vegetable garden, weeding and weeding and weeding, {I think I will post a picture tomorrow on Facebook of the insanely huge pile of weeds I pulled today} the UPS man dropped off a tiny little package for me. That little package turned my whole day around. I ordered some Chalk Ink Markers a few days ago and they arrived today! You didn’t know that some markers could be so exciting? Well, they just gave my day a whole different sort of flavor. I have been stuck on a project I’ve been working on – one that I wanted to have finished before the 1st of July – because I didn’t have the right materials. I’ve tried two other products that failed and I was SO frustrated. As soon as I tried out my Chalk Ink Pens, I could tell that they were perfect! I should be able to finish the project tomorrow and be able to show you the whole thing soon.
Seriously? A package of markers?
Yes. {smiling!}
You will love them! Have you ever tried them before? Maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t already know about them. . .
Here is the little video on their site that convinced me to try them:
http://chalkink.com/ChalkInk.com/Homepage.html
Did you watch it?
Now you want to try them too, right?
What would you do with them? Can you guess what I’m doing? I’ll show you the whole project when it’s finished. Leave a comment and tell me what you would write on and what you would write!
Did you know that I read and respond to each and every one of your comments? I love to continue the conversation. Please, let me know you stopped by!

I’m so glad that the cold water worked on the potatoes! I can’t wait to see what you do with your chalk ink markers! Michaels, Target and Dick Blick all carry them in my area, that’s where I found mine. They’re lots of fun! You can write on glass, mirrors, WOOD, and they make “fancy” chalkboard printing really easy. I have a marker board calender very much like yours, obviously, they work on that, too. Have a great Wednesday. xo

I could NOT find them in any of the stores around here – they looked at me like i was nuts. Why did I have to approve this comment (i only have to approve a person’s first comment on the blog) Have you NEVER commented on the blog before?? For shame!

Oooh, I want to try them! Watched the video and now I want to write something on my car! ( which is totally unlike me….. Who has NEVER had a bumper sticker until I worked with Habitat for Humanity a couple years ago). Chalk markers may just join my list of favorite recent inventions…. Zip top bags and sticky notes!

My assumption is that you could, indeed, write safely on your car with these. But I would certainly test in a hidden spot first. I would leave it on for a few days and make sure it still comes off. Also – I think they would run in the rain. . . But it could be like temporary tattoos!! for your car!!! cool!

I’d love your potato salad recipe. My mom made the best and I can’t make it like hers to save my life!
As to the chalk ink markers, I’m trying not to spend anything I don’t absolutely have to spend for the month of July (forgot about it today and bought drawer dividers. oops!), but I’m definitely bookmarking the site to look at as soon as it’s August! They look like so much fun!!

Hi Nancy!
Maybe I’ll do a post this weekend with the potato salad recipe. What kind did your mother make? You know there are so many different “types” – which kind was hers?
The chalk markers are way cool – try them out when you get a chance!

Hers was a mayonnaise based with boiled eggs in it. She also put a little pickle juice or olive juice in it. I’d still like to see your recipe, though, even if it’s totally different.

well – except for the pickle/olive juice – it sounds like mine – very similar – keep your eyes peeled for a recipe from me.

SOME days are just wrong-side-out-upside-down kind of days.
The markers look neat, neat, neat. But I have an attraction to cool pens, pencils, and markers. I’m very picky about the kind of pens I like. I have FAVORITES. I’m really not that artsy-I just love writing stuff. True, but too funny!
