I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard form me. There are even a whole bunch of you that are reading their very first post from me right now! For those of you that are new here, WELCOME! I hope you’ll enjoy what I have to share! And for those of you that have been around for a while, it’s so nice to talk to you again!
I’ve been away from my computer more these days because I’ve been busy out in my barn working my magic on some seriously needy furniture. I’ve also been writing for the Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Blog with some regularity. I recently made the decision to try my hand at selling some of the furniture that I work on. I’ve had a little bit of success and it’s been very rewarding. The bad news for my blog readers is that many of my posts might be considerably less wordy. However, that also translates into the good news which is they may actually come a bit more frequently and there will be a lot more furniture makeovers – with before and after pictures. I’ll still throw in a post about the old things in my house, or maybe do another yardstick giveaway, or maybe some more full room reveals as those happen…
I know not everyone shares my taste but blog posts with before and after pictures are ALWAYS my favorite ones to read!
Now! With that in mind, I’d like to show you the very first piece of furniture that I made over AND SOLD! It was the very first item in my new Etsy Shop.
So. Here she is!
As soon as I saw those leafy bits down on the feet, I knew that I would be accenting the piece with MMSMP Ironstone – but it took me a while to decide on what color to paint the body. In truth, it takes me a loooong time to decide on the color of every thing I paint. I get gripped with indecision.
It’s kind of a pain.
Boxwood won the day – and I think it was definitely the right decision. The desk is kid of stately and I think Boxwood is kind of a stately color. The piece was purchased by a husband and wife and I think he loved it just as much as she did. Not too feminine – not to manly – juuust right!
If you’d like to read more of the ins and outs of how this piece got done, what was wrong with it when I picked it, how I fixed it, what kind of top coat i used, you can check it out over on Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint Blog. You will even learn why it looked like this at one point!
…but ultimately ended up looking like this….
I hope you like the desk – I hope you didn’t faint over the painting of the wood – I hope you’ll leave me a comment letting me know you stopped by!
