Vintage Industrial Farmhouse {Fall Mantel}{18}

I know.  I talked about the mantel too much and you got all excited and now you’re not sure if it can really be all that exciting.  It is, after all, just the mantel in my dining room.  It’s true.  It’s not going to change the world or anything.  I have to tell you though – it is making me ridiculously happy.  Finally getting the mantel looking the way I wanted it has inspired me to fix up several other parts of the dining room.  Honestly?  This room is looking better than it ever has in the 15 years that we have lived here.  And it’s clean, too!

Okay – here it is!

It’s a pretty interesting mix of items, don’t you think?  Almost everything here is something that I already had on hand. Everything except the biggest white pumpkin.  If you read my last post you know that it was the smallest one I could find and I was determined to bring it home and make it work…

See my Instagram photo: Fall at the Farmstand for a glance at a truly fantabulous Vintage Industrial Scale (it’s an old, outdoor, hanging scale that they have at the farmstand).  Man, would I love to add this thing to my vintage scale collection!  (the smallest white pumpkin they had weighed in at a ridiculous thirty-one pounds!!)

Now.  What do you think about that little red coat hanger?  My mom thought someone set it there by accident – and nearly did me the favor of taking it down… I love it.  And I found it in a pile of free stuff in front of someone’s house recently!  Free!  My favorite price!

Do you know what those slatty brown things are?  Anyone?  They’re cigar molds.  Mr. Social Media bought them last year at the same estate sale where I bought the giant slab of wood that I turned into the Book Page Junk Frame.  He went early in the morning and I went late in the day.  My haul looked more like a big pile of junk… but we both got some cool stuff!  Have you met the Junkers Unite Pinning Team, yet?  We have created one of the best boards going on Pinterest!

So.  What else can I tell you about?  Ah, my new little obsession collection!  How many similar items do you have to acquire before you call it a collection?

This is my second red metal tool box.  I used the first one as a focal point in my Christmas decorations last year and I’m sure both of my little red beauties will be put to use again, this December.  I realized that I already own an awesome display piece for these tool boxes and all it needs is a paint job and a couple more tool boxes!!!  Actually, instead of just hitting eBay (go ahead, do a search for “vintage red metal toolbox” – I dare ya) I might stick with the ones that I have and try and make a couple of tool totes…maybe paint them red…we’ll see.

Well, it seems like every little thing in this display has it’s own story – I could go on and on. . . or I could just show you some more pictures. Maybe you just need a few more ideas – so that you can create your own vintage industrial farmhouse Fall mantel.

You can read about how I changed bright orange mini pumpkins into these lovely neutral colored ones, if you like…

The vintage black metal stool that I bought at Lucketts this Spring is one of my favorite industrial pieces.

I love the way the mantel came out – and I’m so happy with how the dining room is looking right now that I keep wandering in there just to soak it all in.  I’ve cleared some major clutter out of the house in the last few weeks (hoorayy!!) and that usually means making big messes… but things are starting to come back together again.  Maybe next time I’ll show you some more parts of the loveliness that is the current dining room. . . and maybe some pictures of the next thing I’m going to tear into!

Happy Fall, everyone!  It’s almost Halloween – how do you feel about that?  I confess to being less than enthusiastic… but my kids are pretty psyched.  How about you and yours?
